SNOW Contemporary is pleased to present Hideki Iinuma's solo exhibition "Pro File Picture" from Jun 24 to Aug 6, 2022.
Hideki Iinuma is a woodcarver who entered the Nantes Saint-Nazaire School of Fine Arts, France, after completing his M.F.A. at the Aichi University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts in 2002, and was based in various locations in Europe until 2006. Iinuma has consistently expressed the fortitude of women living in the contemporary world, dressed in the latest fashions and with a strong attitude. His works, which include a sense of the atmosphere of the times, present a unique interpretation of society.
The social environment surrounding us has changed dramatically since the spread of the coronavirus. To make oneself present in virtual places such as social media and the metaverse, it is necessary to construct a "new self" (pro file picture) using tools such as avatars and personal ID photos. Iinuma finds new strength and beauty in people who actively express their existence and intentions by proving themselves as community members through the use of such pro file pictures.
In this solo exhibition, "Pro File Picture," Iinuma will present new works of female figures. We hope that Iinuma's newly expressed images of women will provide an opportunity to reconsider the state of people and society in the contemporary age.
