Hideki Iinuma
Hideki Iinuma

sculptor
Born in Nagano, Japan in 1975.
Lives and works in Tokyo.

Hideki Iinuma consistently has a theme of modern women living in a consuming society. Iinuma’s sculptures carved out of a mass of wood have relatively rough shapes, but make us feel the “present” of the women living in modern society. Iinuma also takes photographs of his sculptures with the backdrop of actual cities and nature. The photos exhibit fresh expressions of the sculptures by the effects of the backdrop and stimulate our imagination, showing a new scale of sculptures.
